SUNRISE Objectives

Advancing the excellence capacity at the UB in energy transition toward decarbonization

Considering the fact that research capacity and laboratory infrastructure in the power system decarbonisation domain at University of Belgrade are undeveloped and insufficient for competitive research, one of the objectives of the project is to enhance the power system research resources by providing state-of-the-art infrastructure for R&D, demonstration, verification, and testing over a wide range of smart grid use cases.

Increasing the reputation and research profile of the UB, as well as its staff

Insufficient funds for staff mobility at UB makes it difficult to participate in the international conferences and events and establish connections with research communities which would increase the visibility of the UB. Therefore, one of the objectives of the SUNRISE project is to increase the reputation of UB, while special focus will be given to strengthening human capital and the research profile of the UB staff.

Improving the research management and administrative skills of the staff at the UB

Due to the increasing competitiveness for EU funds in the field of R&I projects, it is necessary to strengthen the skills and competencies related to project management and administration. Funding attraction and participation in international research projects are poor in Serbia. Therefore, one of the objectives of SUNRISE is to train the staff of UB to prepare and implement excellent educational, research, and innovation projects at the national and EU level
