SUNRISE 4th ETF Visit: Strengthening Research Collaboration through Hands-on Exchange

From June 23rd to 27th, 2025, a team from the University of Belgrade – School of Electrical Engineering (ETF), consisting of Mileta Žarković, Goran Dobrić, and Milovan Majstorović, participated in the fourth ETF visit organized within the framework of the SUNRISE project. The visit took place at the EIB – University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in Bilbao, providing a valuable setting for in-depth academic and technical exchange.

The visit featured a rich and engaging agenda, including several faculty tours that provided insight into laboratories and company rooms, offering the guests a closer look at the technical facilities supporting SUNRISE research activities.

Among the visit’s highlights was a focused working session on Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) testing of a network with inverter-interfaced resources using the OPAL-RT platform. This session enabled deep technical exchange and reinforced collaborative efforts in the field of power systems and renewable integration.

Throughout the week, the team also took part in multiple meetings dedicated to ongoing SUNRISE research and new joint research initiatives. The final day was reserved for planning future research visits and defining the next steps in collaboration, followed by closing remarks.

This successful visit further strengthened the partnership and highlighted the shared commitment to advancing the project’s objectives through hands-on cooperation and knowledge exchange.
