Three weeks ago, SUNRISE hosted workshop Enhancing Research Impact and Innovation at the Palace of Science (Zadužbina Miodraga Kostića) in Belgrade. The event brought together researchers and experts to strengthen skills in increasing the societal impact and innovation potential of research, particularly in the context of Horizon Europe projects.
Day 1 focused on strategies for increasing the value of research infrastructures and aligning research with societal needs. Highlights included:
- How to make research infrastructures profitable, presented by Iñaki Echeverria Machado (University of the Basque Country),
- How to plan, evaluate, and communicate research impact, delivered by Glória Nunes Rodrigues and Igor Campillo (Euskampus Fundazioa).
Day 2 was dedicated to Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship, led by Raul Garcia Salcedo (University of Seville), covering key topics such as:
- Introduction to technology transfer,
- Patent creation and licensing,
- Spin-off creation as a path to innovation,
- Fostering an entrepreneurial culture in academia.
We thank all speakers, participants, and partners for their valuable contributions. The SUNRISE team leaves this event inspired and ready to apply what we’ve learned to future Horizon Europe activities.
